On 1 August 1931 he was appointed Press Chief of the NSDAP, and the following year joined the SS. Here he was able to introduce Hitler to numerous important officials within different sects of the mining industry to help secure funding for the Nazi Party. In 1929 he became a member of the Nazi Party (NSDAP) as a Personal Press Referent.


Afterwards he studied at the universities of Munich, Frankfurt am Main and Freiburg, from which he graduated with a doctorate in political science in 1921.ĭietrich worked for newspapers in Essen and Munich. Otto Dietrich was born in Essen, he served as a soldier during World War I and was awarded the Iron Cross (First Class).
